Marketing Lessons from Mom

We celebrated my mother's 75th birthday this past November. She is the matriarch of the Seifer clan, and the brains and energy behind Seifer Farms Pasture Poultry.

I had lunch with mom in North Platte yesterday. She was decked out from head to toe in green for St. Patrick's day a day early. The t-shirt she was wearing had a picture of a cute baby chick with the tag line "I dig chicks."

A woman commented on her t-shirt, thinking mom was celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Mom proceeded to give her the run-down on Seifer Farms, and just "happened" to have the new brochure in her car. I ran out to the car to get the brochure, which mom promptly gave to the woman and her companion, who were definitely interested to find out about a source of all-natural, free range chickens.

The moral of this story? If you are passionate about what you do and believe in it wholeheartedly, you won't pass up an opportunity to share it with others. A good lesson for all of us who care about what we do, either in our private or professional lives.

Thanks for stopping by. The coffee is always on.
